#609 Lucy's Warbler
Lucy's is arguably the most common breeding warbler in SE AZ and one of only two cavity nesting warblers in North America (what's the other?). This rather plain bird with an unmusical song arrives before spring on the calendar (usually by the end of the first week in March). While common and easy to find in riparian and mesquite habitat throughout spring, Lucy's can be hard to find by mid August. This individual was photographed in Garden Canyon on April 14, 2006.

#610 Bell's Vireo
Bell's Vireo is a very common breeder throughout SE AZ, mostly in low elevation habitats. The first birds usually arrive in early March and the last birds depart by mid October. Although their incessant song can be heard almost all day, this species is often infuriatingly difficult too see well in dense mesquite habitat. You may have to track down a few of them before getting a satisfactory view. This individual was photographed near the San Pedro House on April 15, 2006.

#611 - Buff-breasted Flycatcher
Buff-breasted Flycatcher is a locally common breeder in pine forests of selected SE AZ mountain ranges. They can be found most reliably in several canyons of the Huachuca Mountains from late March through late September. Increasingly, some individuals arrive in mid March and stay until early October. My own early and late dates are March 13 and October 7. This individual was photographed in Sawmill Canyon on September 29, 2008.
