#643 - Rufous-capped Warbler
Since 1995, this stunning warbler has become almost a permanent feature of the SE AZ birding landscape. Present and confirmed as a breeder in French Joe Canyon from 1995-2004, other birds have since popped up in Sycamore Canyon, Florida Canyon and, most recently, Patagonia-Sonoita Creek Sanctuary. This individual was photographed in Sycamore Canyon on April 6, 2006.

#644 - Painted Redstart
Painted Redstart is a very common breeder in many mountain canyons of southeast and central Arizona and is usually easy to find throughout the breeding season. Nevertheless, this flashy and active warbler is one of my three favorite species and one that I always take the time to admire. What's not to like? This first spring individual (brown wings; red belly not fully developed) was photographed at Patagonia Lake State Park on April 11, 2006.
